Way back in the 1700’s a taxation was imposed on malted barley, Irish Whiskey makers started to blend barley with other grain to avoid or at least reduce the tax bill! Original blending used 70% malted barely and 30% grain … over time blending has evolved and oftentimes more and more grain is added reducing the quantity of the premium malted barely in the whiskey.
Irish American Classic blend follows traditional blending using – 70% malted barley (rather than using more of the much cheaper grain). The blend is double distilled in copper pot stills (no need for triple distillation with such high quality ingredients) is non- chill filtered for maximum flavor and matured in first fill ex American bourbon casks to ensure real smoothness. Their expert master distiller blends in a little 10 year Old Single Malt, to make it really special. The whiskey is double distilled in copper pot stills and matured in first fill ex American bourbon casks. It is non chill filtered. The flavour of the whiskey is completely natural and the taste and character of the whiskey is truly based on the ingredients, the cask & the ageing process.
